ALO Audio Pan Am Headphone Amp/USB DAC ($599)
Here's an amp that doesn't fit neatly into any box...except its own. And fit neatly it does. The Pan Am is a lovely little tube headphone amp that can be optionally powered by the Gateway ($149) external AC supply, or the PassPort ($199) battery power supply. Each unit conveniently stacks under the Pan Am with matching extrusion features. The Pan Am also includes an internal USB DAC using a Wolfson chip, and converts digital bitstreams to 24/96.

This handsome stack of gear would be lovely for desktop use, and its battery powered option makes it a cool choice for the back patio, RV, or boat. The amp comes stock with 6J1 tubes, but Siemens and Telefunken 6AK5 W tubes (cryo treated) are optionally available from ALO. Other compatible tubes are: 6BC5, EF40, 5654, EF95 and WE403.
