Off to the New York Head-Fi Meet!!!

Woo-hoooo!!! The New York Head-Fi meet is this weekend!
Heading out in the morning for the big Head-Fi meet this weekend, and I wanted to pimp it one last time. If you're in the NY metro area and want to see and hear some great headphone gear, this would be the place to go. To find out about it, go to this Head-Fi thread. I'm stoked.

Other noteworthy ventures on this trip?
I'll be visiting The Mothership, of course, for chats with the folks at Stereophile and dialog with my boss about things we may find in InnerFidelity's future.

I'll be interviewing Dave Chesky. We may get to talking about his new binaural head, but I want to learn more about this interesting guy. Steve Guttenberg will be there, he knows Dave very well and is helping me crib for the interview. Should be fun.

I'm also tagging along with Steve "Sphere" Guttenberg to guest on CNET's "The 404" webcast on Friday. That should be a real kick in the pants--think "Howard Stern meets Steve Wozniak." I'm not sure how much talk about measurements we'll get in with that manic mayhem, but it'll be fun, that's for sure.

As I'll be gone on the change of the month, and the postings from the Head-Fi meet will take a little while, I won't be doing a monthly update for June. Did do some measurements though, and did make some headway on the amp testing. You'll just have to wait 'til July for the update.

Oh yeah! I've got one surprise review that I'm hoping to post during the trip at some point. I guarantee it's not something you'd expect...hell, I didn't expect it. I've wanted the stuff for a long, long time; and there's a bit of a weird story to go along with it; but it oddly fits in, and I was game. You'll just have to wait and see about that one, too!

Right! The batteries are charged, spare cables are packed, a wad of IEMs to play with on the plane are nestled in my briefcase.

We're Off!!!

My guess on the surprise

My guess - Bose finally sent you some can's to review. I wouldn't expect that. Have a great time in NY.

Enjoy NY

Sorry we won't see you in Newport Beach this weekend. Maybe at the LAOCAS headphone-oriented meeting in August?

Hm. Possibly, I'll have to
Hm. Possibly, I'll have to think about it. Good timing though, as I'll be doing some planning today.

Just watched the 404 podcast

Great job Tyll, I enjoyed that. I wish they'd gotten into more discussion regarding great cans, and there was no mention of the new Sennheiser or Denon train wrecks, but overall it was good exposure.

Thanks!
It sure was fun, though. You can see the webcast on this page.

Seems premature

Magick Man,
Seems premature to pronounce Denon's new D600 and D7100 as train wrecks. Senn's HD700 looks to qualify however.

Fair enough

Maybe they'll turn out okay sonically, but they sure LOOK like train wrecks compared to the aesthetics of the previous series.

Like you said, we'll see.

FWIW...
Steve Guttenberg attended a press event last week for the new Denons and felt they were pretty good. We'll see.

Have fun

Have a great time, Tyll. Super bummed not to be able to make it down but have fun with the NYC crew.

While You Were in NY

We in NB got to hear the production version of the new Schiit Mjolnir, Jason & Co.'s balanced amp. I'll be ordering one so I can hear it in my system. At $749 and sounding the way it does, it could be a five-run home run.

Great Show...

On the 404. Looks like you and Steve enjoyed yourselves. And btw, sorry I didn't get to shake your hand at our nyc meet, Tyll. Seemed like you were swarmed every time I was over by you, lol. And didn't want to interrupt your interview with Dan (Mr Speakers) when you were sitting next to me. Next time! Keep up the great work on the site, and I'm looking forward to impressions of the meet (and Dan's mod, which I got to spend a decent amount of time with).
