Since I wrote my "Headphones Can Kill You" article two months ago, I've seen in my news feeds at least three more people wearing headphones killed by trains. Unbelievable … but true. While I'm sure InnerFidelity readers are smart enough to stay off the tracks, there are plenty of other hazards out there --- I've almost been hit at the grocery store parking lot before. And don't you just hate it when the stewardess' lips move but you've got to pull the earphones out of your ear only to hear her ask if you want some lousy peanuts?

Well, now there's something you can do about it.

Once you've read all the threads and reviews, and had a look at the measurements on InnerFidelity, the next step in finding just the right headphone is to do some listening. There's really no better way to do that than by going to a local Head-Fi meet. And the New York Head-Fi group sure knows how to throw a great meet.

Here's a taste of what awaits you ...

Woah! I wasn't expecting this at all. PSB has released a new full-sized, sealed headphone. And better yet, Paul Barton was there to fill me in on it. I'm a big fan of the work Paul is doing on developing a better understanding of what flat is on headphones, and the design of these new cans incorporate some of that understanding.

Woot! Off I go to Munich's 2013 High End Show! The weather cooperated, so lots of pix of downtown Munich before the show, and little introduction to what's ahead.

Ooooo baby! This is a much anticipated device. With a max capacity of 192Gig of storage and the ability to playback multiple file types up to 24bit/192kHz rates, this thing promises to be the audiophile portable media player. The question is: Does it deliver?

Newcomer to the headphone amp world is Slovenian company Erzetich Audio. CEO Blaz Erzetich started the company last September but has been working in audio for almost 25 years, and it shows in his gear.

Furutech's Alpha Design Labs sub-brand has slowly but surely been embracing personal audio with a very interesting mix of headphone products. I really like the direction they're going.

You know what's funny about this job? You travel half way around the world and then talk to people you know well. Fang is one of those people. I'm thinking I should go to China one of these days and talk to him again.

Anyway, HiFiMAN had a couple of cool dynamic IEMs that were a good listen. Check it out.

Ed. Note: I've posted my show impressions for Stereophile, you can read them here.
