CanJam at RMAF 2013: Cardas EM5813 Ear Speakers

I don't think you can compare the Cardas EM5813 to other IEMs—it's rather in a class of its own. It's a George Cardas Ear Speaker, and if you like George and his stuff, you'll probably like them. I do. They're a cool pice of kit, really nicely made, with a smooth old school sound. In my experience, they're exactly the kind of thing that goes over well in the Orient.

Andy and I had a couple of nice long chats at RMAF about his experiences selling the Cardas EM5813 in the East, and how he strongly agreed with some of the concepts brought out in my conversation with Steve Guttenberg about headphones and U S. dealers. He said the headphone scene over there was vibrant and exciting. That dealers were interested in your particular tastes and headphone needs, and were able to provide solid recommendations from amply and diversely stocked shelves. And they had customers...young ones, and plenty of them.

I asked Andy if that success of headphone retailers might be transferable to the U. S. He said, essentially, of course, we have smartphones here too. My feeling is that the boom in headphones is going to continue strongly, and folks who figure out how to retail them well are going to move a lot of iron.

Andy will gladly tell you what he thinks in the video.
