CanJam at RMAF 2014: Beyerdynamic T 51 i and DTX 350 p

Beyerdynamic has been in the headphone game since, well, pretty much the beginning. Their famous DT48 first produced in 1937 is often considered the first moving coil production headphone. It went out of production last year, and is likely the longest running headphone product ever.

This year, Beyerdynamic brought two new products to CanJam, the T 51 i ($299) and DTX 350 p ($69). I reviewed the DT1350—a similar looking headphone—about three years ago and loved it. After having heard the T 51 i at the show I've come to the conclusion I need to revisit these cans and get a pair in to consider for review. They sounded pretty nice to my ears; gotta see if they'd knock the DT1350 off the Wall of Fame.

The DTX 350 p is a low cost, sealed, on-ear. It was a bit bass heavy, but of course the kids will like that. Perfectly appropriate for a headphone at this price point.

You can find both the T 51 i and DTX 350 p up on Beyerdynamic's web site.
