Hunt for a amp/dac to my HE 400S

Hey guys i have bought he 400S and i love it, recently i have been trying different audio sources all from Spotify premium to 24bit/96kHz and i can´t notice any differences. I have been testing on my Pro ject head box s usb, Hifiman EF2C and my NAD c375bee with a 24bit/192khz NAD module. Do i have to weak equipment?

What are you using...

...to stream your content to the Head Box, EF2C, and C 375BEE? A smartphone / PC / Mac / other? How is it connected?

I have the HE 400S and they sound pretty damn good, so if you can't notice any differences, then there might be some thing(s) in your delivery stream that needs to be tweaked. (Hope to GOD you're not using AirPlay!)

If you want a sonic experience you'll never forget, get yourself some sample DSDs:

Also, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is also a great way to gauge differences, especially since it's one of the few GOOD albums out there that is available in CD, vinyl, SACD, and BluRay audio (24/96) formats.

Connection

Sorry - I should have been more clear. How are you connecting your digital source to each of the amplifiers? (While I'm at it, what kind of computer are you using?)

The Head Box only has RCA inputs, so are you using a 3.5mm to RCA y-cable between the comp and amp, or do you have another component in the mix? Assuming it's a Windows machine that's directly connected to the Head Box, ensure the highest resolution possible is enabled in the Properties of your sound card. (Don't expect a lot from an integrated sound card.)

In your connection to the NAD, are you sure you've selected the NAD module as your default playback device (assuming it's a Windows machine)? Is it an optical or USB connection? It's also a good idea to check the properties.

Same for the EF2C: are you sure you've selected the EF2C as your default playback device (assuming it's a Windows machine that's connected via USB)? Again, it's also a good idea to check the properties.

Iam sure about the connections

Head box uses usb (have the usb version) same with the ef2c and NAD, I have checked all properties and have put them high as possible (I use windows machine). I have been reading all over internet and found that the dynamic range could be compressed even at 24/92

DRC...

...is generally an industry issue with source content. Here are some decent articles about it:

However, if any of your equipment or software has a DRC option, try disabling it. Speaking of software, what are you using to play your local library? Are you also using a media server?

In case you ARE looking for another DAC/amp combo...

...I picked up a Sony UDA-1 (in black) on Woot for only $200 a few months ago and it sounds incredible with the HE 400S. I highly recommend it.

Even got a Greatest Bits:
