I think Quad education is important for anyone becoming a serious lover of music playback, because learning about the contribution the company made to high-fidelity is an essential part of learning to navigate the strange waters of being an audiophile.

The high-end of personal audio seems to be experiencing heightened interest from companies who not only design and build the headphones, headphone-amplifiers and DACs that mere mortals tend to covet, but also those companies who up until now have been focused exclusively on building two-channel gear.

While components and devices seem to continually get smaller as technology progresses, it doesn’t seem to come at the cost of feature set.

Climbing up the price ladder in personal audio doesn’t always guarantee you’ll be happier with the sonics – just like two-channel there can be sideways moves or tradeoffs – but, it usually means you’re getting better spec’d, better built and better sounding gear as a rule, as opposed to being the exception.
