Power is an aphrodisiac for many, which is why I think many individuals who identify as headphone-centric will fall for Astell & Kern's largish KANN Cube high-output portable. With a reported May 2019 launch date, an MSRP of $1,499 USD, the new Cube will be available in Astell & Kern dealers worldwide in June 2019.

There’s product updates and then there’s product updates. Chord Electronics recently unleashed a helluva a powerful firmware update for Poly, the company’s wireless dedicated streaming module which is the peanut butter to their Mojo portable DAC/headphone amplifier’s jelly.

There’s an old saying, when one door closes, another door opens… You can switch that around and swap door for headphone in the case of Sennheiser’s 800 series of circum-aural driver-equipped cans. So, it would go more like when one headphone opens, another headphone closes, which is the case with Sennheiser’s newest addition to the 800 series: the closed-back $2,399 USD HD 820.

What do you do when you have what many critics in the hobby hail as one of the finest headphones in the world – the LCD-4 – but lament that they are difficult to drive from anything than the most grunt-worthy amplifier? If you’re Audeze you have your engineering teams go back to the Planar-Magnetic open-headphone drawing board and come up with the LCD-4z.
