Phew!!! It's done! Two days of travel, four days of walking the floor, and a week of photo and video post-production and writing. I'm ready to start measuring some headphones for a little while.

But first, a few closing thoughts.

Shocked, I tell ya. I've not heard too many Philips headphones in the past, but the ones I have heard were pretty disappointing. Then, BAM! At this year's CES Philips introduced five new lines of headphones. There were a couple of clunkers, but only a couple. Headphone after headphone in these new line-ups ranged from very good, to unbelievably good, and the pricing was surprisingly affordable.

At one point, I was giggling like a little girl.

I poke my head in the door. WTF? A bunch of lounge chairs. On to the next room ... no wait! Speakers on lounge chairs, that's personal audio, I reckon.

Yeah baby, comfy, cozy listening!

Finally! George Cardas has been working on his new in-ear monitor for quite some time now.

They're done!

I'm well aware of master clocks used for video post production, but was unaware that similar master clocks are now used in digital recording studios. Antelope makes some of the finest clocks for this application.

Oddly enough, they also make some headphone amplifiers.

To my camera, it was dark at the bottom of the escalator at The Home Entertainment Show being held at the Flamingo.

To my heart, it was well lit by the smiles of good friends and ex-coworkers Jorge Cervera and Ben Thiede.

Brooklyn? Queens? Friggen country boy from Montana, I can never remember. All I know is New York is home to Jack Wu and Woo Audio, who make some fine vacuum tube headphone amps ... some very nice affordable ones, too.

Let's see what he's up to.

I have a little plan I'm working on. I want to revamp my test tracks using music that I could get permission to publish here on InnerFidelity.

This guy is key!

It's not easy to find cheap stuff that sounds good. There're just soooo many cheap headphones that it's impossible to get your ears on all of them for a listen.

Fortunately, I got a hot tip on these.

Having heard only two of their headphones (the great sounding Exodus, and the rather poor sounding Stir it Up), I was very much looking forward to getting my ears on the entire House of Marley line to get a feel for their overall performance as a headphone company.

I wasn't disappointed.

Argh! I forgot to take a picture of the Comply booth. I didn't forget to visit them, though. This company makes great aftermarket tips for you in-ear monitors, and their booth was manned by one of the engineers.

I just love it when someone technical is available to talk about their product.

I mentioned in an earlier post that there are two types of in-ear monitor: balanced armature and dynamic driver. Well, there's actually a third type ...

... an in-ear monitor with both dynamic and balanced armature drivers!

Val Kolton of V-Moda once told me there are just a handful of companies in China that make most of the world's headphones. I don't know about that, but I'd sure like to.

Maybe I just stumbled into one.

Hey look! It's Spider! (Fitzy runs.) Last year Ronny Tsai sent me a couple of Spider products I liked quite a bit. Wonder what he's got this time?

There's no doubt I want Audio Technica's ATH-M50 on my wall of fame, I had but to find the AT booth and ask. The question in my head as I walked up to their display was whether there was anything else of interest.

I was glad to see and hear a couple of new goodies from Audio Technica.
