InnerFideliBits: Spotify Hits 20 Million Subscribers; SoundMagic E50S and E80s; Livesoundwave Showroom; Partsconnexion Sale

Heyya! Welcome back to InnerFideliBits! This time around we explore the consequences of Spotify hitting 20 million subscribers, find out about the two new SoundMagic in-ears, await the opening of a new personal audio showroom, and seize some sweet deals at a Partsconnexion sale!

Streaming News: Spotify Hits 20 Million Subscribers

On June 10th, Spotify announced that they had hit 20 million subscribers and more than 75 million active users. This shift toward streaming music consumption means more than just increased profits for Spotify. The company has released documentation that reveals that the payouts to artists on Spotify have increased drastically this year as well, with the top 100 artists receiving $1.9 million in payouts last year and $3.3 million this year, just as an example. Definitely a step in the right direction.

New Products: SoundMagic E80S and E50S

SoundMagic has been known for affordable, good-sounding in-ears and other audio products for awhile now. On June 10th, they announced two additions to their in-ear line-up. The E80S features a 10mm dynamic driver imported from Japan, a 45-degree angle plug (my favorite!), and a smart switch on the integrated mic that allows you to switch between iPhone control and Android/Blackberry/Windows Phone control. The company has also included a frequency response chart on the product PDF that would indicate an extremely linear response. The E50S is a more mid-tier model than the E80S, featuring a slightly lower impedance and a less linear response.

Dealer News: Livesoundwave To Open Showroom In Orlando, Fl

It's pretty rare to see a gallery or showroom dedicated to headphones nowadays. Tyll was surprised to see the dedicated headphone gallery that Blackbird Audio set up at T.H.E Show Newport. Livesoundwave is hoping to make that less of a problem with the showroom that they're opening in Orlando, Fl. They'll be exhibiting headphones from brands like Sennheiser, Grado, Audeze, Final Audio, Shure, Westone and more. In-person auditioning is a rare experience with high-end headphone audio, so this is a real boon for the Floridian Headphonians!

rhythm is life's picture

The top 10 artists on Spotify are getting paid almost as much per year by them as the top ten NBA players in annual salary...but the top 100 NBA players make way more than $3.3M on average. The music industry has a serious income inequality problem, and is a microcosm of the world as a whole, a world in which elites such as Taylor Swift and Jay Z complain about unfair compensation while the bottom 99+% are the ones that have much more of a right to complain, but they lack a voice as they are drowned out in a sea of shameless self-promotion, slick marketing campaigns and Tidal press conferences.
