This is a bit of a follow up to my experience at PAX East, and something I’ve been reflecting on for a while as someone who is a content creator. Streaming is changing the entire landscape of content creation – not just for those in the audiophile or personal-audio sector.

I recently attended PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) East, which is to my knowledge, the largest gaming show on the East Coast, but of particular interest for me were the headphone setups here.

The name Manley has been legendary in audiophile and professional audio circles for many years now, and I recall my dad lusting after VTL and Manley high-powered tube gear when I was younger, not just because of its sound, but also because it was expensive. But, not so expensive that it was totally out of reach for the average Joe who saved their pennies.

This past Sunday I got the chance to stop by the high-tech equipped Audeze Headquarters and assembly facility located near Santa Ana, which for Los Angeles, is a relatively sedate 40-minute drive from my home.

The emphasis on lighter weight and more efficient materials is big for ZMF.. The Closed back Verite’s Magnesium chassis and wood selection have obviously paid off as the headphones are noticeably lighter than other ZMF headphones I’ve listened to.

Meze's leap from the 99 Classic and Neo Classic to the Empyrean was a big surprise, and the subsequent move into audiophile-oriented IEMs was quite unexpected as well, and now Meze is trickling this flagship technology down into more attainably-priced products.
